UCB said Thursday it has filed with the Food and Drug Administration for approval of a new antihistamine for allergies.

Cecil Pickett, president of the Schering-Plough Research Institute, announced his departure yesterday to become chief of research at Biogen Idec, a Cambridge, Mass.-based drugmaker. He will also join Biogen’s board.
